Resumo:O controle jurisdicional da constitucionalidade das leis e atos do executivo foi introduzido no Japão em maio de 1947, mesmo ano em que a Constituição vigente passou a vigorar. Embora estabelecido quase por acaso, a sua introdução trouxe profundas transformações no processo político do Japão, o que pode ser entendido no âmbito de um contexto histórico do constitucionalismo japonês.
